Description
Air Fryer Grilled Cheese is a quick and easy recipe for making deliciously crispy grilled cheese sandwiches using an air fryer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 slices bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
- 4 slices good melting cheese (cheddar, American, or mozzarella)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened to room temperature
Instructions
- Gather your bread, cheese, and softened butter on the counter. Having everything within reach makes assembly much easier.
- Set your air fryer to 350°F (180°C) and let it preheat for 3-5 minutes while you assemble the sandwiches.
- Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. This creates that perfect golden, crispy exterior.
- Place two bread slices butter-side down, add 2 slices of cheese to each, then top with the remaining bread slices butter-side up.
- Place the sandwiches in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap. Cook for 8-10 minutes, checking halfway through for your desired level of golden brown.
- Remove the sandwiches carefully with tongs and let them cool for about a minute before slicing diagonally. The cheese will be very hot inside!
Notes
- Make sure the butter is softened for easy spreading and even browning
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket – cook in batches if needed
- Try different cheese combinations like sharp cheddar and gruyere for gourmet flavor
- Add thin slices of tomato or crispy bacon for extra flavor and texture
