- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and granulated sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until bubbly and foamy.
- Add the vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and egg to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
- Gradually add the flour and salt to the wet ingredients, stirring until a dough begins to form.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle (about 15×10 inches).
- In a small bowl, combine the ground cinnamon and brown sugar. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough.
- Starting from one of the shorter sides, roll the dough tightly to create a log. Pinch seams to seal.
- Cut the log in half lengthwise, exposing the cinnamon swirl, and carefully twist the two strands together into a braid.
- Place the braided dough into a greased loaf pan, cover with a cloth, and let rise for an additional 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

- For best results, ensure the milk is at the right temperature to activate the yeast.
