Description

A delightful and easy-to-make dessert that combines the comforting flavors of apple pie and cinnamon rolls, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 67 grams dark brown sugar, packed
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 cans (8-count each) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
  • 60 millilitres salted butter, melted
  • 300 grams apple pie filling
  • 2 tablespoons caramel syrup
  • Additional caramel syrup, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Grease a 23 x 33 centimetre casserole pan with non-stick cooking spray and preheat oven to 175°C.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together dark brown sugar and cinnamon until evenly incorporated.
  3. Unwrap refrigerated cinnamon rolls and slice each roll into four equal pieces using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  4. Add cinnamon roll pieces to the bowl with sugar mixture and toss gently to evenly coat all surfaces.
  5. Transfer coated cinnamon roll pieces to prepared baking dish and spread into an even layer.
  6. Pour melted salted butter evenly over the cinnamon rolls, focusing on edges to prevent drying.
  7. In a medium bowl, stir together apple pie filling and caramel syrup until well combined.
  8. Use a knife or fork to cut larger apple slices into bite-size pieces within the filling.
  9. Distribute apple and caramel mixture over the cinnamon rolls, spreading gently for even coverage.
  10. Place casserole in oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until cinnamon rolls are set and golden brown.
  11. Remove from oven and cool for 10 minutes before drizzling with reserved icing from cinnamon roll cans and extra caramel syrup, if desired.
  12. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For an extra indulgent treat, serve with vanilla ice cream.
  • Ensure to check the cinnamon rolls during baking to avoid overcooking.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator and reheated before serving.
