- 1 ½ lbs ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
- 1 (28 oz) bag frozen tater tots
- 1/2 cup ketchup (plus more for topping, optional)
- Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, diced onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, 1 cup cheddar cheese, and ketchup.
- Spread the meatloaf mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish, pressing it down slightly to form an even layer.
- Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer over the top of the meat mixture.
- Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until meat is fully cooked and tater tots are golden.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheese over the tots. Return to oven and bake an additional 5–7 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let sit for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
- Use grass-fed beef for a richer flavor.
- Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers or carrots to the meatloaf mixture for added nutrition.
- If you prefer a spicier dish, add some hot sauce into the meat mixture.
- Can substitute tater tots with similar frozen potato products if desired.
