Description

A delicious comfort food dish combining cheesy meatloaf and crispy tater tots, perfect for satisfying the whole family.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
  • 1 (28 oz) bag frozen tater tots
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (plus more for topping, optional)
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, diced onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, 1 cup cheddar cheese, and ketchup.
  3. Spread the meatloaf mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish, pressing it down slightly to form an even layer.
  4. Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer over the top of the meat mixture.
  5. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until meat is fully cooked and tater tots are golden.
  6. Remove from oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheese over the tots. Return to oven and bake an additional 5–7 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Let sit for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use grass-fed beef for a richer flavor.
  • Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers or carrots to the meatloaf mixture for added nutrition.
  • If you prefer a spicier dish, add some hot sauce into the meat mixture.
  • Can substitute tater tots with similar frozen potato products if desired.
