Description
Enjoy crispy, homemade Chick Fil A style nuggets with this easy recipe.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for some heat)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the chicken pieces and buttermilk. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using) until combined.
- Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring it is fully coated.
- Fry the chicken nuggets in batches, cooking for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through, flipping halfway for even cooking.
- Transfer the nuggets to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Marinating overnight enhances the flavor and tenderness of the chicken.
- You can adjust the level of spice by adding more or less cayenne pepper.
- Use a thermometer to ensure the oil is at the right temperature for frying.
