  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Pour the melted butter into the bottom of the prepared pan. Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the butter.
  3. Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the brown sugar layer.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, water, and vanilla extract. Mix well until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  5. Carefully pour the cake batter over the cherry pie filling, spreading it out evenly.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
