Description
A rich and indulgent Chocolate Orange Cheesecake with a delightful crust and creamy filling, topped with chocolate ganache and fresh orange segments.
Ingredients
- Chocolate Digestive Biscuits: 200g, crushed (or graham crackers for a different flavor)
- Unsalted Butter: 100g, melted
- Cream Cheese: 500g, at room temperature
- Granulated Sugar: 150g
- Sour Cream: 200g
- Dark Chocolate: 200g, melted (70% cocoa for richness)
- Orange Zest: From 2 oranges
- Orange Juice: 60ml (freshly squeezed for the best flavor)
- Eggs: 3 large
- Vanilla Extract: 1 teaspoon
- Dark Chocolate Ganache: 100g dark chocolate and 100ml heavy cream
- Orange Segments: For garnish
- Chocolate Shavings: Optional, for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed chocolate biscuits and melted butter until well blended.
- Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan to create an even layer. Bake for 10 minutes, then set aside to cool.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and granulated sugar together until smooth and creamy.
- Add the sour cream, melted dark chocolate, orange zest, orange juice, and vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing gently after each addition until just incorporated. Avoid overmixing to keep the texture light.
- Pour the cheesecake filling over the cooled crust in the springform pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center still has a slight jiggle.
- Turn off the oven and leave the cheesecake inside for 1 hour to cool gradually, which helps prevent cracking.
- Once cooled, remove the cheesecake from the oven and let it cool at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow it to set completely.
- In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until just simmering. Remove from heat and add the dark chocolate. Stir until smooth and glossy.
- Allow the ganache to cool slightly before pouring it over the chilled cheesecake.
- Carefully remove the cheesecake from the springform pan.
- Top with orange segments and chocolate shavings for an elegant presentation.
- Slice and serve chilled.
Notes
- For best results, use room temperature ingredients.
- Allow the cheesecake to chill overnight for firmer texture.
- Garnish with extra orange zest if desired.
