- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 package (about 40) Saltine crackers
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
- Chopped nuts (e.g., pecans or almonds, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Lay Saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.
- Melt butter in a saucepan, then stir in brown sugar, vanilla, and salt. Boil for 3 minutes.
- Pour the hot toffee over the crackers.
- Bake for 5-7 minutes until bubbly.
- Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl for the churro coating.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the hot toffee.
- Drizzle melted chocolate over the top and sprinkle with nuts if desired.
- Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
