Description

Churro Saltine Toffee is a sweet and crunchy treat made with a toffee base and coated in a churro-inspired cinnamon-sugar mixture.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 package (about 40) Saltine crackers
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
  • Chopped nuts (e.g., pecans or almonds, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Lay Saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  4. Melt butter in a saucepan, then stir in brown sugar, vanilla, and salt. Boil for 3 minutes.
  5. Pour the hot toffee over the crackers.
  6. Bake for 5-7 minutes until bubbly.
  7. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl for the churro coating.
  8. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the hot toffee.
  9. Drizzle melted chocolate over the top and sprinkle with nuts if desired.
  10. Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
