Description

A deliciously moist and spiced cake featuring tender apples and a hint of cinnamon, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 medium apples, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
  • powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel (optional), core, and chop 2 medium apples into small chunks. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup melted butter and 3/4 cup granulated sugar.
  3. Add eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Fold in chopped apples evenly throughout the batter.
  6. Pour batter into a greased 8×8-inch baking dish.
  7. In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons sugar with 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Sprinkle over the top of the batter.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35–40 minutes or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, consider using brown sugar instead of granulated sugar.
  • Feel free to add walnuts or pecans for additional texture.
