- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 medium apples, chopped
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for topping)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
- powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Peel (optional), core, and chop 2 medium apples into small chunks. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup melted butter and 3/4 cup granulated sugar.
- Add eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in chopped apples evenly throughout the batter.
- Pour batter into a greased 8×8-inch baking dish.
- In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons sugar with 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Sprinkle over the top of the batter.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35–40 minutes or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider using brown sugar instead of granulated sugar.
- Feel free to add walnuts or pecans for additional texture.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
