Description

A delicious and creamy twist on the classic grilled cheese, featuring mashed avocado and melted cheddar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices bread
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Start by gathering all of your ingredients: 2 slices of bread, 1 ripe avocado, 2 tablespoons of butter, 2 slices of cheddar cheese, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.
  2. Take the ripe avocado and carefully slice it in half. Remove the pit and scoop the avocado flesh into a small bowl.
  3. Mash the avocado with a fork until it reaches a smooth, creamy consistency.
  4. Add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to the mashed avocado and mix well.
  5. Stir in 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper into the mashed avocado.
  6. Set the avocado mixture aside while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.
  7. Place a frying pan or griddle on the stove over medium heat to warm up.
  8. Take the 2 slices of bread and spread 1 tablespoon of butter on one side of each slice, ensuring the butter covers the entire surface evenly.
  9. Once the pan is heated, place the slice of bread with the buttered side down onto the pan.
  10. Immediately place 1 slice of cheddar cheese on top of the bread in the pan.
  11. Take the second slice of bread and butter one side as you did with the first slice.
  12. Carefully place the buttered side of the second slice of bread on top of the cheese, so the buttered sides of both bread slices are facing out.
  13. Let the sandwich cook for about 3 to 4 minutes, or until the bottom slice of bread turns golden brown and crispy.
  14. Using a spatula, flip the sandwich over carefully and cook the other side for an additional 3 to 4 minutes, until the second side is also golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  15. Once the sandwich is toasted to your liking and the cheese is gooey, remove it from the pan.
  16. Let the sandwich cool for a minute or two so the cheese doesn’t burn you when you cut it.
  17. Slice the sandwich in half and spread the creamy mashed avocado mixture generously onto one of the halves.
  18. Place the other half of the sandwich on top, with the mashed avocado facing in.
  19. Serve immediately while the sandwich is warm and the cheese is still gooey.
