Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • a few drops balsamic vinegar (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine dried basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and salt. Add Parmesan if using.
  2. Mix the spices well to ensure an even blend.
  3. Allow the spice blend to sit for a few minutes to deepen the flavors.
  4. Pour in the olive oil and mix gently. Add balsamic vinegar if desired.
  5. Let it marinate for 15–30 minutes at room temperature.
  6. Transfer to a ramekin and serve with warm crusty bread.
  7. Stir before serving to redistribute spices.
  8. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to a week and bring to room temp before using.
