Description
Delicious Easter-themed cookies packed with M&M’s and chocolate chips, perfect for celebrating the holiday.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups M&M’s (Easter-themed)
- 3⁄4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- In a large bowl, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to cream together the softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy, which should take about 3 minutes.
- Add the large egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture, then mix until smooth and fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed or by hand until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Stir in the M&M’s and semi-sweet chocolate chips by hand, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Lightly press a few extra M&M’s and chocolate chips on top of each dough ball for a more festive look.
- Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft.
- Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Make sure the butter is softened to room temperature for easier creaming with the sugars.
- For chewier cookies, avoid overmixing the dough after adding the flour mixture.
- You can substitute the M&M’s with other seasonal candies or chocolate if preferred.
- For extra flavor, use dark brown sugar instead of light brown sugar.
- Let the cookies cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to avoid breaking.
