- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup cottage cheese
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 2 tablespoons butter, for brushing (optional)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm milk and sprinkle the yeast over the top. Let it sit for 5 minutes, or until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, baking powder, and garlic powder (if using).
- Add the yeast mixture, cottage cheese, melted butter, and egg to the dry ingredients. Stir to combine and form a soft dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Cut the dough into 12 equal strips and roll each strip into a log shape.
- Place the rolls on a greased baking sheet, cover with a towel, and let them rise for an additional 20-30 minutes.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown.
- Optionally, brush with melted butter after baking for a buttery finish.
