- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for browning)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, uncooked rice, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, egg, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until just combined.
- Shape mixture into 1 1/2-inch meatballs (makes about 16–18).
- Optional: In a large skillet, heat olive oil and brown the meatballs on all sides (for added flavor and texture).
- In a medium bowl, mix together tomato sauce, beef broth, and Italian seasoning. Pour over meatballs.
- Cover and simmer over low heat for 45–50 minutes, or until rice is tender and meatballs are cooked through. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes, pasta, or crusty bread.

- For a gluten-free option, make sure to use gluten-free Worcestershire sauce.
