Description

A delightful and easy-to-make dessert combining a buttery crust, rich caramel, chocolate, and toasted pecans.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 14 oz caramels, unwrapped (about 5060 pieces)
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, for smooth melting)
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  3. In a bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, and flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Press evenly into the prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  6. While the crust is baking, melt caramels and heavy cream together in a saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth.
  7. Pour the caramel over the baked crust and spread evenly.
  8. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the warm caramel.
  9. Let sit for 2–3 minutes to soften, then gently spread with a spatula.
  10. Sprinkle with toasted pecans on top.
  11. Let bars cool completely at room temperature or chill in the fridge until set.
  12. Slice into squares and serve.

Notes

  • For a smoother chocolate topping, mix in coconut oil when melting chocolate chips.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerated for best freshness.
