- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 14 oz caramels, unwrapped (about 50–60 pieces)
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, for smooth melting)
- 1 cup chopped pecans, toasted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, and flour until a soft dough forms.
- Press evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until lightly golden.
- While the crust is baking, melt caramels and heavy cream together in a saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth.
- Pour the caramel over the baked crust and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the warm caramel.
- Let sit for 2–3 minutes to soften, then gently spread with a spatula.
- Sprinkle with toasted pecans on top.
- Let bars cool completely at room temperature or chill in the fridge until set.
- Slice into squares and serve.
Notes
- For a smoother chocolate topping, mix in coconut oil when melting chocolate chips.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerated for best freshness.
