Description
Frosty Wonderland Candy Apples are a delightful winter treat, perfect for celebrating the season with a sweet touch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 medium-sized apples
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon food coloring (blue or green for a winter vibe)
- 1/4 cup white chocolate chips (optional for drizzling)
- Sprinkles (for decoration)
Instructions
- Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and set aside.
- Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Insert wooden sticks into the stems of each apple.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, corn syrup, and vanilla extract. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Bring the mixture to a boil without stirring until it reaches the hard crack stage (about 300°F or 150°C on a candy thermometer).
- Remove the saucepan from heat and carefully add food coloring, stirring gently to combine.
- Dip each apple into the candy coating, allowing excess to drip off. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- If desired, melt the white chocolate chips and drizzle over the coated apples. Sprinkle with festive decorations.
- Let the apples cool until the coating hardens, about 30 minutes.
Notes
- Ensure that the apples are completely dry before dipping to avoid the candy coating sliding off.
- For a more vibrant color, adjust the amount of food coloring to your preference.
- Experiment with different toppings like nuts or coconut flakes for added texture.
