Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (2% or whole milk)
- 1 cup self-rising flour, plus extra for dusting
- 1 scoop unflavored or plain whey protein powder
- 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1 to 2 teaspoons hot sauce (Frank’s RedHot or Sriracha)
- Pinch of chili flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine Greek yogurt, self-rising flour, protein powder, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 2 to 3 minutes until smooth and cohesive.
- In a small bowl, mix ricotta, Parmesan, garlic powder, Italian herbs, black pepper, and salt until smooth.
- Divide dough into 12 equal pieces and flatten each into a disc approximately 3 inches wide.
- Place a heaping teaspoon of ricotta filling in the center of each disc, pinch edges together to seal, and gently roll into a rope, tying into a knot with ends tucked underneath.
- Arrange knots on the prepared baking sheet, cover with a clean towel, and allow to rest while preparing the garlic butter.
- Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, add minced garlic and cook until fragrant (about 1 minute), then stir in parsley.
- Brush each knot generously with garlic butter using a pastry brush.
- Bake for 16 to 18 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- In a small bowl, combine honey, hot sauce, and chili flakes if using. Warm until runny and pourable.
- Remove knots from the oven and immediately drizzle with hot honey. Serve warm.
Notes
- Feel free to adjust the hot sauce according to your heat preference.
- Serve with extra hot honey on the side for drizzling.
- These knots can be made ahead of time and warmed before serving.
