Description
Delicious and tender barbecue ribs made effortlessly in a crockpot.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2–3 lbs pork baby back ribs (or spare ribs)
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for extra smoky flavor)
- 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional)
Instructions
- Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs for the most tender result. Pat dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub generously over both sides of the ribs.
- Cut ribs into sections to fit into your slow cooker. Layer them in, curling them around if needed.
- In a bowl, mix barbecue sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke. Pour over ribs, coating them well.
- Cook on LOW for 7–8 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours until the ribs are very tender and nearly falling off the bone.
- For a caramelized, sticky finish, place ribs on a foil-lined baking sheet, brush with extra sauce, and broil on HIGH for 3–5 minutes until bubbly and slightly charred.
Notes
- Pair with creamy coleslaw, baked beans, cornbread, or buttery mashed potatoes.
- Add pickles or sliced onions for contrast.
