Description

Delicious and tender barbecue ribs made effortlessly in a crockpot.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 lbs pork baby back ribs (or spare ribs)
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for extra smoky flavor)
  • 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional)

Instructions

  1. Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs for the most tender result. Pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, mix salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub generously over both sides of the ribs.
  3. Cut ribs into sections to fit into your slow cooker. Layer them in, curling them around if needed.
  4. In a bowl, mix barbecue sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke. Pour over ribs, coating them well.
  5. Cook on LOW for 7–8 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours until the ribs are very tender and nearly falling off the bone.
  6. For a caramelized, sticky finish, place ribs on a foil-lined baking sheet, brush with extra sauce, and broil on HIGH for 3–5 minutes until bubbly and slightly charred.

Notes

  • Pair with creamy coleslaw, baked beans, cornbread, or buttery mashed potatoes.
  • Add pickles or sliced onions for contrast.
