Description

A refreshing layered dessert that combines key lime flavors with creamy whipped topping and crispy graham cracker crust.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup crushed graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup fresh key lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon key lime zest
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Lime slices and additional zest for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the crushed graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated, then set aside.
  2. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, key lime juice, and key lime zest until smooth. Set this mixture aside to thicken slightly.
  3. In another bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Be careful not to over-whip.
  4. In a trifle dish or individual serving cups, start by layering some of the graham cracker mixture, followed by a layer of the key lime mixture, and then a layer of the whipped cream. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.
  5. Chill the trifles in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.
  6. Before serving, garnish with lime slices and a sprinkle of additional zest for a bright, fresh touch.
