Description

Leopard Candied Apples are a sweet and visually stunning treat, perfect for parties or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 Granny Smith apples
  • 6 wooden sticks or skewers
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Gel food coloring: black, gold, and orange
  • Edible gold dust (optional for shimmer)
  • Candy thermometer
  • Non-stick cooking spray or silicone baking mat

Instructions

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry apples. Insert wooden sticks into the tops of the apples and set aside on a parchment-lined tray.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat. Stir gently until sugar dissolves.
  3. Insert candy thermometer and bring mixture to a boil without stirring. Continue cooking until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  4. Remove from heat and carefully stir in vanilla extract. Quickly divide the syrup into 3 small bowls.
  5. Use black, gold, and orange gel food coloring to tint each portion. Swirl slightly if desired but avoid fully mixing for a leopard effect.
  6. Working quickly, dip each apple into the colored mixtures, rotating gently to achieve a layered, marbled appearance. Let excess drip off before placing apples on a silicone mat or greased surface.
  7. Optional: Sprinkle edible gold dust over apples before the coating hardens for extra shimmer.
  8. Let cool and harden at room temperature before serving or wrapping.

Notes

  • Ensure apples are completely dry for better candy adherence.
  • Work quickly with the candy mixture as it hardens fast.
  • Use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature measurement.
