A warm and spiced drink that combines the flavors of apple cider, bourbon, and maple syrup, perfect for cozy evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 L apple cider
  • 2 orange slices
  • 2 lemon slices
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 810 whole cloves
  • 3 whole star anise
  • 4 tbsp maple syrup, or as needed
  • bourbon, about 1 oz per serving
  • extra cinnamon sticks and star anise, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, place the apple cider over medium high heat.
  2. Add the orange and lemon slices, cinnamon, cloves, and star anise.
  3. Bring the cider up to a simmer and then turn down the heat.
  4. Let the cider gently steep on low for about half an hour until it is infused with the flavor of the spices.
  5. After steeping, add maple syrup to taste and remove the citrus and spices.
  6. To serve, add 1 oz bourbon to a mug and top with the hot apple cider.
  7. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and star anise if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness with more or less maple syrup based on your preference.
