Description

A classic dessert featuring a smooth, creamy custard filling baked in a flaky pie crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (plus extra for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the unbaked pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, and salt until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the milk while whisking continuously.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract and ground nutmeg.
  6. Pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust.
  7. Sprinkle a little extra nutmeg on top for added flavor and presentation.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use whole milk for a richer, creamier custard texture.
  • Allow the pie to cool fully to achieve a smooth, firm slice.
