Description

A quick and delicious one-pan dish combining ground beef and orzo pasta, topped with melted cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to preheat at 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a spacious oven-safe skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef completely, ensuring it’s cooked through. Drain any extra fat.
  3. Toss in the chopped onion and garlic into the skillet. Sauté for 2–3 minutes, stirring often, until they are soft and aromatic.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes with their juice, beef broth, orzo, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together until well combined.
  5. Allow the mixture to come to a gentle simmer, then lower the heat to its lowest setting. Cover the skillet, cooking for around 10 minutes and stirring occasionally, until the orzo softens and most liquid absorbs.
  6. Remove the skillet from the heat, take off the cover, and sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan over the top evenly.
  7. Place the skillet in the preheated oven, baking uncovered for 10–15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbling, melted, and slightly golden brown.
  8. Sprinkle chopped parsley over the top before serving. Enjoy it hot, straight from the skillet.
