Description
A quick and delicious one-pan dish combining ground beef and orzo pasta, topped with melted cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Set your oven to preheat at 375°F (190°C).
- In a spacious oven-safe skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef completely, ensuring it’s cooked through. Drain any extra fat.
- Toss in the chopped onion and garlic into the skillet. Sauté for 2–3 minutes, stirring often, until they are soft and aromatic.
- Add the diced tomatoes with their juice, beef broth, orzo, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together until well combined.
- Allow the mixture to come to a gentle simmer, then lower the heat to its lowest setting. Cover the skillet, cooking for around 10 minutes and stirring occasionally, until the orzo softens and most liquid absorbs.
- Remove the skillet from the heat, take off the cover, and sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan over the top evenly.
- Place the skillet in the preheated oven, baking uncovered for 10–15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbling, melted, and slightly golden brown.
- Sprinkle chopped parsley over the top before serving. Enjoy it hot, straight from the skillet.
