Description

A delightful twist on traditional biscuits, adorned with fresh peaches and a sweet glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups cold buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh chives (optional)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups peaches, peeled and chopped (fresh or canned, drained)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup peach preserves or jam
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). Place the butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and melt it in the oven.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and baking soda. Add chives if using.
  3. Pour in the cold buttermilk and gently mix until just combined. Dough will be sticky.
  4. Carefully remove the hot pan with melted butter and drop in spoonfuls of biscuit dough.
  5. In another bowl, mix chopped peaches with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Spoon over and around the biscuit dough.
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden on top and bubbling at the edges.
  7. While baking, heat the peach preserves and water until thin. Brush over the finished biscuits.
  8. Let rest 5 minutes and serve warm.

Notes

  • Cold buttermilk is essential—keep it chilled until use for fluffier biscuits.
  • Canned peaches are a great substitute, just be sure to drain them fully.
  • Don’t skip the glaze—it enhances flavor and gives a beautiful finish.
