Description

A festive and indulgent pastry shaped like a Christmas tree, filled with creamy brie, cranberries, and crunchy pistachios.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets ready-rolled puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg yolk + 1 tsp water (for egg wash)
  • 1 wheel of brie (200–250g), sliced
  • ½ cup cranberry sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • ¼ cup pistachios, roughly chopped
  • Zest of ½ orange (optional, for brightness)
  • All-purpose flour (for dusting)
  • Baking paper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface to equal size rectangles.
  3. Spread cranberry sauce evenly over one pastry sheet, leaving a 1 cm border.
  4. Arrange brie slices across the cranberry layer, then sprinkle with chopped pistachios and orange zest.
  5. Lay the second sheet of puff pastry on top and gently press down to seal.
  6. Cut into a large triangle tree shape, reserving scraps for stars or extra decorations.
  7. Cut horizontal “branches” along both sides of the triangle, leaving a center strip intact as the trunk.
  8. Twist each branch away from the center to create a spiral swirl effect.
  9. Brush the entire tree with the egg wash for a glossy, golden finish.
  10. Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until puffed and deep golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • The orange zest is optional but adds a nice brightness to the flavor.
  • Make sure not to overstuff the pastry to prevent it from bursting while baking.
  • Use the pastry scraps to create small star decorations to garnish the tree.
