Description
Delicious and healthy salmon balls paired with a creamy avocado sauce, perfect for a snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb fresh salmon fillet, skinless and boneless, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, for frying
- 1 ripe avocado, peeled and pitted
- 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped salmon, panko breadcrumbs, red onion, garlic, beaten egg, dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- Form the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Heat olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the salmon balls, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the salmon balls for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
- To prepare the creamy avocado sauce, mash the avocado in a small bowl until smooth. Stir in Greek yogurt, lime juice, cilantro, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and creamy.
- Serve the salmon balls warm with the creamy avocado sauce drizzled over the top or on the side for dipping.
Notes
- For added spice, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to the salmon mixture.
- These salmon balls can also be baked at 375°F for 20 minutes as a healthier alternative.
- The avocado sauce pairs well with other seafood dishes or can be used as a spread for sandwiches.
- Ensure not to overcook salmon balls to prevent them from drying out.
