Description

Delicious and healthy salmon balls paired with a creamy avocado sauce, perfect for a snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fresh salmon fillet, skinless and boneless, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, for frying
  • 1 ripe avocado, peeled and pitted
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped salmon, panko breadcrumbs, red onion, garlic, beaten egg, dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  2. Form the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the salmon balls, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
  4. Fry the salmon balls for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  5. To prepare the creamy avocado sauce, mash the avocado in a small bowl until smooth. Stir in Greek yogurt, lime juice, cilantro, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and creamy.
  6. Serve the salmon balls warm with the creamy avocado sauce drizzled over the top or on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • For added spice, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to the salmon mixture.
  • These salmon balls can also be baked at 375°F for 20 minutes as a healthier alternative.
  • The avocado sauce pairs well with other seafood dishes or can be used as a spread for sandwiches.
  • Ensure not to overcook salmon balls to prevent them from drying out.
