Description

A delicious and easy-to-make stir-fry featuring tender steak and fresh vegetables, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs top sirloin steak, cut into chunks
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons ginger paste
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil + 1 teaspoon (divided)
  • ½ teaspoon ground white pepper
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (divided)
  • 3 medium carrots, sliced
  • 2 medium zucchinis, sliced
  • 45 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 12 tablespoons teriyaki sauce or Japanese BBQ sauce
  • Fried rice, for serving
  • Yum Yum Sauce, for serving

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Steak: Mix steak with mirin, garlic, ginger, 1 tsp sesame oil, white pepper, and salt. Toss well. Let sit for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Cook the Veggies: In a large pan, melt 2 tbsp butter with 1 tbsp sesame oil over medium heat. Add carrots, zucchini, and mushrooms. Stir often for 10–15 minutes until golden and tender. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  3. Sear the Steak: In the same pan, melt 2 tbsp butter with 1 tbsp sesame oil over medium-high. Add marinated steak. Stir until seared and cooked through, about 3–4 minutes. Add teriyaki or BBQ sauce and toss to coat.
  4. Serve It Up: Plate the steak and veggies. Add fried rice and Yum Yum Sauce on the side or drizzled on top.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the veggies.
  • Feel free to substitute the vegetables with your favorites.
  • Letting the steak marinate longer enhances the flavor.
