A tender and flavorful slow cooker BBQ beef brisket that is easy to prepare and perfect for any occasion.

- 2 to 3 pounds beef brisket
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme leaves
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 cup water
- 1 ½ teaspoons liquid smoke flavoring
- 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 bottle (18 oz) barbecue sauce
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine thyme, paprika, pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and cumin. Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket.
- Pour 1 cup of water into the bottom of a 7-quart slow cooker. Place the seasoned brisket in the slow cooker.
- Pour liquid smoke and Worcestershire sauce over the brisket.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 8–10 hours, until the brisket is fork-tender.
- Transfer the cooked brisket to a platter and discard the fat layer. Shred the meat using two forks. Return shredded brisket to the slow cooker.
- Pour barbecue sauce over the shredded beef, stir gently, and cover. Cook on low for an additional 30 minutes to warm through.
- Serve warm on buns, over nachos, or alongside classic barbecue sides like coleslaw, cornbread, or baked beans.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the brisket with the spice rub overnight.
- Adjust the barbecue sauce type according to your preference.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
