Description
A delicious and delightful dessert combining strawberries, peanut butter, and chocolate for a sweet treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound (approximately 450 grams) fresh strawberries
- 1½ cups (375 grams) smooth peanut butter
- 1½ cups (255 grams) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 teaspoons (10 millilitres) vegetable shortening
- Flakey sea salt, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Line a large cutting board or baking tray with a 23×33 centimetre sheet of parchment paper.
- Wash and thoroughly dry the strawberries. Remove stems, slice each lengthwise into thick slices, and trim rounded edges to lay flat.
- Arrange sliced strawberries in rows on the parchment with pointed ends alternating to fit together and cover the surface evenly.
- Microwave peanut butter for 15–20 seconds until pourable. Spread in an even layer over the arranged strawberries. Freeze for 5 minutes.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and vegetable shortening. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring after each, until melted and smooth.
- Pour melted chocolate mixture over the peanut butter, smoothing it into an even layer. Immediately sprinkle with flakey sea salt if desired.
- Return tray to the freezer for at least 2 hours, until chocolate is set and strawberries are firm.
- Slice bark into individual pieces and serve directly from the freezer.
Notes
- For a different flavor, try using almond butter instead of peanut butter.
- Make sure strawberries are dry to prevent excess moisture in the bark.
