Description

A delicious and delightful dessert combining strawberries, peanut butter, and chocolate for a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (approximately 450 grams) fresh strawberries
  • 1½ cups (375 grams) smooth peanut butter
  • 1½ cups (255 grams) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons (10 millilitres) vegetable shortening
  • Flakey sea salt, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a large cutting board or baking tray with a 23×33 centimetre sheet of parchment paper.
  2. Wash and thoroughly dry the strawberries. Remove stems, slice each lengthwise into thick slices, and trim rounded edges to lay flat.
  3. Arrange sliced strawberries in rows on the parchment with pointed ends alternating to fit together and cover the surface evenly.
  4. Microwave peanut butter for 15–20 seconds until pourable. Spread in an even layer over the arranged strawberries. Freeze for 5 minutes.
  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and vegetable shortening. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring after each, until melted and smooth.
  6. Pour melted chocolate mixture over the peanut butter, smoothing it into an even layer. Immediately sprinkle with flakey sea salt if desired.
  7. Return tray to the freezer for at least 2 hours, until chocolate is set and strawberries are firm.
  8. Slice bark into individual pieces and serve directly from the freezer.

Notes

  • For a different flavor, try using almond butter instead of peanut butter.
  • Make sure strawberries are dry to prevent excess moisture in the bark.
