Description

Sushi Bake is a delicious and easy-to-make casserole version of sushi that combines flavors of imitation crab meat and cream cheese, all baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 ½ cups water
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pound imitation crab meat, shredded
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 sheet nori, crumbled
  • ½ cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sushi rice in cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Place the rice in a medium saucepan and add 2 ½ cups of water.
  3. Bring the water and rice to a boil over medium-high heat.
  4. Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan.
  5. Simmer the rice for about 18-20 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
  6. Remove the rice from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 10 minutes to steam.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until the sugar and salt are dissolved.
  8. Transfer the cooked rice to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture.
  9. Let the rice cool to room temperature.
  10. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  11. Shred the imitation crab meat into small, bite-sized pieces and place it in a medium mixing bowl.
  12. Add the mayonnaise, sriracha sauce, sesame oil, and softened cream cheese to the bowl with the crab meat.
  13. Stir the mixture until it is well combined and creamy.
  14. Crush the nori sheet into small pieces and fold it into the crab mixture.
  15. Spread the cooled sushi rice evenly in the bottom of a baking dish, pressing it down gently.
  16. Evenly spread the crab and cream cheese mixture on top of the rice.
  17. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top of the sushi bake.
  18. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  19. Remove the dish from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before serving.
  20. Garnish with chopped green onions on top for a fresh finish.
  21. Serve the sushi bake with a spoon or in small portions and enjoy.
