Description

A flavorful side dish inspired by Texas Roadhouse’s famous green beans, cooked with bacon, onion, and garlic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices of bacon (chopped)
  • ½ cup diced white onion
  • 2 (16-ounce) cans green beans (drained and rinsed)
  • ½ cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, then add chopped bacon and cook until crispy, about 5 to 6 minutes, stirring often.
  2. Add diced onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the green beans, chicken broth, garlic, butter, red wine vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine.
  4. Reduce heat to low, cover the skillet, and let simmer until green beans are tender, about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Adjust seasoning as needed, then transfer the green beans to a serving dish or individual portions and serve warm.

Notes

  • Green Beans: Texas Roadhouse uses canned green beans, but fresh or frozen can be used with a different flavor and texture.
  • Salt: If using regular chicken broth, taste before adding salt.
  • Make it Keto: Replace the sugar with Granular Swerve or omit it entirely.
