Ingredients
Scale
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature or softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cups Valentine M&Ms
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°. Line a 9×13 baking pan with parchment paper, if desired for easy removal, and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
- Using an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugars together until well combined.
- Add the eggs and vanilla and continue beating until combined.
- Add the baking soda, salt, and flour to the wet mixture, mixing slowly and then increasing to medium speed until the cookie dough comes together.
- Add in the chocolate chips and M&Ms, distributing throughout the cookie dough using the mixer or folding in by hand.
- Scoop the dough into your prepared baking pan. Spread and press the dough evenly into the pan with a spatula or your hands. Optionally add extra M&Ms to the top for color.
- Sprinkle the M&Ms evenly over the top, pressing them down lightly into the dough.
- Bake at 350° for 20-35 minutes depending on desired gooeyness; check that the top is set and not wet. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
- Cut the bars, serve & enjoy!
Notes
- For gooier bars, bake on the lower end of the time range.
- If you prefer a golden brown finish, aim for 30-35 minutes.
