Description
A delicious and hearty casserole that combines chili, hot dogs, and tater tots for the ultimate comfort food experience.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 8 hot dogs or smoked sausages, sliced
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons chili seasoning
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (10-ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chilies
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 (32-ounce) bag frozen tater tots
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked; drain excess grease.
- Add diced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and sauté 30 seconds more.
- Stir in chili seasoning, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes with chilies. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
- Spray the inside of the crockpot with nonstick spray.
- Add half the chili mixture to the bottom of the crockpot.
- Layer sliced hot dogs or sausage over the chili.
- Sprinkle half the cheddar cheese over the hot dogs.
- Spread a single, even layer of frozen tater tots on top, pressing down gently.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 2.5–3 hours.
- About 15 minutes before serving, top with the remaining cheddar cheese and re-cover until melted.
- Serve hot, garnished with green onions, sour cream, or jalapeños if desired.

- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
