Description

Refreshing and colorful punch cups that celebrate the 4th of July with fun layers of slushy flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups crushed ice (for red layer)
  • 1½ cups fruit punch (for red layer)
  • 3 cups crushed ice (for white layer)
  • 1½ cups frozen lemonade, prepared slightly stronger than package directions (for white layer)
  • 3 cups crushed ice (for blue layer)
  • 1½ cups blue sports drink (Blue Gatorade or Powerade) (for blue layer)
  • 6 Bomb Pop popsicles (for topping)
  • 2 cups whipped cream (for topping)
  • 6 maraschino cherries with stems (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Slush Layer: In a blender, add the fruit punch and crushed ice and blend until thick and slushy. Divide the mixture among six clear plastic cups, filling each about one-third full, and freeze for 5 minutes.
  2. Prepare the White Lemonade Layer: Rinse the blender, then add the frozen lemonade and crushed ice. Blend until smooth and thick. Carefully spoon the white lemonade slush over the red layer in each cup and return to the freezer for 5 minutes.
  3. Prepare the Blue Slush Layer: In the blender, add the blue sports drink and crushed ice. Blend until thick and icy. Spoon the blue slush over the lemonade layer in each cup, leaving about 1 inch of space at the top.
  4. Decorate the Cups: Pipe or spoon whipped cream onto the top of each cup, add a maraschino cherry, and insert a Bomb Pop popsicle at an angle.
  5. Serve immediately while icy and refreshing. Enjoy with a spoon, a straw, or both.

Notes

  • Ensure layers are distinct by working slowly when adding each layer.
  • For a stronger lemonade flavor, prepare it slightly stronger than package instructions.
  • Can be made in advance, but best served immediately for optimal texture.
