Description
Baked Blackened Salmon is a flavor-packed dish featuring perfectly seasoned salmon fillets baked to perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
- 4 skin-on salmon filets, about 6 ounces each
- 1 ½ teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt, or more to taste
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon light brown sugar, packed
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
- Fresh herbs, optional for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425F and drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil over a baking sheet. Line with foil or parchment paper for easier cleanup.
- Pat the salmon dry with paper towels, place it on the baking sheet, and drizzle or brush the remaining olive oil over the top.
- Combine all the dry spices in a small bowl and mix. Adjust seasoning to your taste.
- Spoon the spice mixture over each salmon filet, pressing it in to help it adhere.
- Bake for about 8 to 10 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145F.
- Optionally, make a fruit salsa while the salmon bakes.
- Garnish the baked salmon with fresh herbs and serve.
Notes
- For more intense flavor, add extra salt and cayenne pepper as per your preference.
- Fish leftovers can be stored airtight in the fridge for 4-5 days or frozen for 2-3 months.
- Reheat in the microwave for 20-30 seconds or let come to room temperature before eating leftovers.
