Description

Baked Blackened Salmon is a flavor-packed dish featuring perfectly seasoned salmon fillets baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 4 skin-on salmon filets, about 6 ounces each
  • 1 ½ teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt, or more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon light brown sugar, packed
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
  • Fresh herbs, optional for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425F and drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil over a baking sheet. Line with foil or parchment paper for easier cleanup.
  2. Pat the salmon dry with paper towels, place it on the baking sheet, and drizzle or brush the remaining olive oil over the top.
  3. Combine all the dry spices in a small bowl and mix. Adjust seasoning to your taste.
  4. Spoon the spice mixture over each salmon filet, pressing it in to help it adhere.
  5. Bake for about 8 to 10 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145F.
  6. Optionally, make a fruit salsa while the salmon bakes.
  7. Garnish the baked salmon with fresh herbs and serve.

Notes

  • For more intense flavor, add extra salt and cayenne pepper as per your preference.
  • Fish leftovers can be stored airtight in the fridge for 4-5 days or frozen for 2-3 months.
  • Reheat in the microwave for 20-30 seconds or let come to room temperature before eating leftovers.
