Delicious and crispy oven-baked bang bang shrimp coated in a flavorful batter and served with a tangy sauce.

- 32 oz shrimp (peeled, deveined, and tail-off)
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 1/2 tbsp hot sauce
- 1 large egg
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 1/2 cups Panko breadcrumbs
- Cooking oil spray (to help browning)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
- 1/2 tbsp honey
- 1/2 tsp lime juice
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 green onion, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
- Whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, honey, and lime juice in a small bowl until smooth.
- In one bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- In another bowl, whisk together the egg, buttermilk, and hot sauce until completely smooth.
- Dip each shrimp into the wet mixture, coating fully, then dredge in the dry mixture.
- Transfer each coated shrimp to a shallow bowl with Panko breadcrumbs and press gently to adhere.
- Arrange shrimp on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer and lightly spray with cooking oil.
- Bake for 10 minutes, flip each shrimp, and bake for another 5–10 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Let shrimp cool for 1–2 minutes on the baking sheet, then drizzle with bang bang sauce and garnish with parsley and green onion.
Notes
- Ensure shrimp are dry for a crispy coating.
- Adjust lime juice in the sauce to taste.
- Leave space between shrimp on the baking sheet for even cooking.
