Description

Delicious and crispy oven-baked bang bang shrimp coated in a flavorful batter and served with a tangy sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 32 oz shrimp (peeled, deveined, and tail-off)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 1/2 tbsp hot sauce
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cups Panko breadcrumbs
  • Cooking oil spray (to help browning)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp lime juice
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, honey, and lime juice in a small bowl until smooth.
  3. In one bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, buttermilk, and hot sauce until completely smooth.
  5. Dip each shrimp into the wet mixture, coating fully, then dredge in the dry mixture.
  6. Transfer each coated shrimp to a shallow bowl with Panko breadcrumbs and press gently to adhere.
  7. Arrange shrimp on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer and lightly spray with cooking oil.
  8. Bake for 10 minutes, flip each shrimp, and bake for another 5–10 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Let shrimp cool for 1–2 minutes on the baking sheet, then drizzle with bang bang sauce and garnish with parsley and green onion.

Notes

  • Ensure shrimp are dry for a crispy coating.
  • Adjust lime juice in the sauce to taste.
  • Leave space between shrimp on the baking sheet for even cooking.
  • Flipping the shrimp is important for crispiness.
