Description
Crispy wonton shells filled with a flavorful ground chicken mixture, topped with fresh ingredients for a delicious taco twist.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package of wonton wrappers
- 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
- Lime wedges for serving
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, carefully place a few wonton wrappers in the oil, frying until they puff up and turn golden brown, about 1-2 minutes. Flip and fry the other side for another minute.
- Remove the wonton shells from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Repeat with the remaining wrappers.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the ground chicken to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, green onions, and shredded carrots. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the carrots are slightly softened.
- Take a wonton shell and fill it with a generous amount of the chicken filling.
- Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, and a dollop of sour cream.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges on the side.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add chili sauce or hot sauce to the chicken filling.
- These tacos are best enjoyed fresh, but the filling can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge.
- Customize the toppings to your liking; avocado or jalapeños make great additions!
