Description

Chocolate Chip Potato Chip Cookies combine sweet and salty flavors with a chewy center, buttery crisp edges, melty chocolate, and a delightful potato chip crunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups roughly crushed Wavy Lay’s Original Potato Chips
  • Additional chocolate chips and crushed potato chips for the tops, optional

Instructions

  1. Crush the potato chips by placing them in a zip-top bag and gently crushing them with your hands. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy and fluffy (approximately 2–3 minutes).
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the butter mixture and mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in the semisweet chocolate chips and then gently fold in the crushed potato chips without using a mixer.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough per cookie and place them on the baking sheet several inches apart. Optionally, press extra chocolate chips and potato chips on top.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden and the centers look slightly soft. Don’t overbake.
  9. Allow the cookies to rest on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire cooling rack.

Notes

  • Do not overbake for soft and chewy cookies.
  • Avoid crushing potato chips into fine crumbs; aim for small to medium pieces for texture.
  • Chill cookie dough for about 30 minutes if the dough is too soft.
  • Press extra chunks of potato chips and chocolate chips on the tops for better appearance and texture.
