Description

Crispy Reuben Balls are delicious bite-sized snacks packed with shredded corned beef, Swiss cheese, and sauerkraut, coated in crispy breadcrumbs and fried to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups shredded cooked corned beef
  • 1 cup drained sauerkraut
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup softened cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients: corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and cream cheese.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the shredded corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and cream cheese.
  3. Mix the ingredients thoroughly with your hands until well blended and aromatic.
  4. Taste the mixture and adjust seasoning with garlic and onion powder as desired.
  5. Shape the mixture into balls, about 2 tablespoons each, using your palms.
  6. Place the balls on a lined baking sheet, leaving space between them.
  7. Refrigerate the balls for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape.
  8. Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
  9. Coat each chilled ball in flour, then dip in eggs, and roll in breadcrumbs.
  10. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat until shimmering.
  11. Fry the balls in batches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  12. Remove the fried balls and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to achieve a crispy exterior.
  • Experiment with different cheeses for varied flavor profiles.
  • These can be served with a side of mustard or dipping sauce of your choice.
