Description
A simple and savory delight made with cube steaks slow-cooked in a rich gravy.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 packet beef gravy mix
- 10.75 ounce can cream of chicken soup
- 10.5 ounce can French onion soup
- ½ cup water
- 2 pounds cube steak (about 4 cube steaks)
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons cold water
Instructions
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the packet of gravy mix, cream of chicken soup, French onion soup, and 1/2 cup water, then pour into the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker.
- Place the cube steaks in the slow cooker with the gravy mixture.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook the cube steaks on low for 6-8 hours until fully cooked and tender. Turn the cube steaks in the gravy about halfway through the cook time.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and 3 tablespoons cold water. Remove the cube steaks from the slow cooker and set aside, then stir the cornstarch mixture into the gravy in the slow cooker.
- Return the steaks to the slow cooker. Turn the heat setting to high and cook for 30 minutes, until the gravy is thickened.
Notes
- For best results, use a good quality cube steak.
- This recipe can also be made with other cuts of beef if preferred.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or rice to soak up the gravy.
