Description
A delicious recipe for crockpot sticky pineapple maple ham, perfect for festive occasions and family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 fully cooked spiral-sliced ham (5–7 lbs)
- 1 cup pure maple syrup
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup pineapple juice
- 1 can (20 oz) pineapple rings, drained (reserve the juice)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Maraschino cherries (optional, for garnish)
- Fresh thyme (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ham: Place the fully cooked spiral-sliced ham, cut side down, in a 6–8 quart slow cooker. Arrange pineapple rings over and around the ham.
- Make the Maple Glaze: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine maple syrup, brown sugar, pineapple juice, melted butter, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, and garlic powder. Stir for 3–5 minutes until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the Glaze: Pour about two-thirds of the warm maple glaze over the ham, allowing it to seep between the slices. Reserve the remaining glaze in the refrigerator.
- Slow Cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 3–4 hours, or until the fully cooked ham is heated through to 140°F. Spoon the cooking juices over the ham occasionally. Avoid overcooking.
- Thicken the Sauce: Transfer the cooking juices to a saucepan and combine with the reserved glaze. Simmer for 8–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick, sticky, and glossy.
- Finish the Ham: Brush the thickened maple-pineapple glaze generously over the ham. For extra caramelization, transfer the ham to an oven-safe baking dish and broil for 2–4 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
- Serve: Garnish with pineapple rings, maraschino cherries, and fresh thyme. Slice and serve warm with extra sticky maple glaze.
Notes
- For an extra-thick, glossy glaze, simmer the sauce until it coats the back of a spoon.
- Use pure maple syrup for the richest flavor.
- For the best texture, cook the ham on LOW and avoid overheating.
- Perfect for Christmas dinner, Thanksgiving gatherings, Easter, or a cozy Sunday family meal!
