Description
Ground Beef and Broccoli is a delicious and quick meal that combines savory ground beef with tender broccoli in a flavorful sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 3 cups broccoli florets
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 cup water or beef broth
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
- 2 cups cooked white rice
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat if needed.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water (or broth) until smooth. Set aside.
- Steam or blanch the broccoli until bright green and tender-crisp, about 2–3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Return the broccoli to the skillet with the cooked beef. Pour in the sauce and stir to coat everything evenly. Simmer for 2–3 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
- Turn off the heat and stir in chopped green onions. Serve hot over cooked white rice. Top with sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
- For extra sauce, double the sauce ingredients and add a bit more cornstarch to maintain thickness.
- Use low-sodium soy sauce to keep the sodium level in check.
- Frozen broccoli can be used in a pinch—just thaw and pat dry before adding.
