Description

A decadent Hershey Bar Cake layered with delicious frosting, chocolate ganache, and topped with Hershey bars and sprinkles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boxes German Chocolate cake mix
  • 6.8 ounces instant vanilla pudding mix (2 3.4-oz boxes)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup canola oil
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 16 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 24 ounces cool whip
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 cups finely chopped pecans
  • 2 large Hershey chocolate bars, grated
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 35 tablespoons heavy whipping cream (for frosting)
  • 6 mini Hershey chocolate bars
  • 1 container chocolate sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line two 9-inch springform pans with parchment paper and spray with baking spray.
  2. In a standing mixer, combine the cake mix, vanilla pudding, eggs, canola oil, and water, and mix until combined.
  3. Divide batter between the two springform pans and bake for 35-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Allow cakes to cool completely on a wire rack.
  5. In a standing mixer, beat cream cheese and sugar until combined. Gradually add powdered sugar until smooth.
  6. Fold in cool whip, pecans, and grated chocolate, and mix until combined.
  7. Slice each cake into two layers to create a total of 4 layers.
  8. Heat heavy whipping cream in a small saucepan until simmering, then pour over chocolate chips and whisk until smooth to make ganache.
  9. On a cake board, place one cake layer, scoop two cups of frosting on top, and smooth.
  10. Layer the second cake on top, add another cup of frosting, and smooth.
  11. Repeat with the remaining layers and frost the outside of the cake with the remaining frosting.
  12. Drizzle chocolate ganache around the top edge of the cake and over the top.
  13. Beat butter, cocoa, powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy cream in a mixer for the chocolate frosting until smooth.
  14. Pipe dollops of frosting around the top, place Hershey bars on some, and sprinkle chocolate sprinkles on others.

Notes

  • Ensure cakes are completely cooled before frosting.
  • Adjust thickness of the frosting by adding more heavy cream if needed.
  • For best results, use room temperature ingredients when mixing.
