- 500g ground sausage
- 2 large yellow onions
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup Gruyère cheese
- 2 sheets puff pastry
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
- Heat butter and olive oil in a pan, add sliced onions, and cook slowly until caramelized.
- Add garlic and thyme, cook briefly, then let cool.
- Mix sausage with Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, onions, and cheese.
- Roll out puff pastry and cut into strips.
- Place filling along one edge and roll tightly to seal.
- Brush with egg wash and lightly score the tops.
- Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
- Rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, substitute sausage with a plant-based sausage.
- These can be made ahead of time and frozen before baking.
