Description

A delicious twist on the classic hot dog, featuring a savory Sloppy Joe mixture topped with melted cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 beef frankfurters
  • 4 hot dog buns
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup Sloppy Joe sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and ground beef. Season with salt and pepper, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in the Sloppy Joe sauce with the cooked ground beef and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until heated through.
  3. While the beef mixture simmers, grill or boil the beef frankfurters according to your preference until cooked through.
  4. Lightly toast the hot dog buns on a grill or in a toaster.
  5. Place each beef frank in a toasted bun, top generously with the Sloppy Joe mixture, and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. If desired, place the assembled Sloppy Joe Dogs under a broiler for a minute to melt the cheese.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions if using and serve hot.

Notes

  • Feel free to add more toppings such as jalapeños or diced tomatoes for extra flavor.
  • This recipe can be easily doubled for larger gatherings.
  • Use lean ground beef for a lower fat option.
