- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes optional
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
- 1 lemon sliced for garnish
Instructions
- Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and dried thyme.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon butter.
- Sear the chicken breasts for 5 to 6 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove the chicken and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium and add the minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in the chicken broth and scrape the browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
- Add heavy cream, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, lemon zest, honey, and red pepper flakes. Whisk until smooth.
- Let the sauce simmer for 3 to 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the top.
- Simmer for another 5 to 7 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Stir in the remaining butter for a glossy finish.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon slices before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, increase the amount of crushed red pepper flakes.
- Serves well with rice or pasta to soak up the delicious sauce.
