Description

These Peppermint Oreo Truffles are a delightful no-bake treat, perfect for the holiday season. They combine the classic flavor of Oreos with a refreshing hint of peppermint, all wrapped in a smooth chocolate coating.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 39 Oreo cookies (don’t remove the cream center!)
  • 8 ounces full-fat cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract (use less for a milder peppermint flavor)
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons espresso powder
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, roughly chopped
  • 2 teaspoons coconut oil or canola oil

Instructions

  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a non-stick baking mat and set aside.
  2. Place the Oreo cookies in a blender or food processor and pulse until finely ground.
  3. Add the cream cheese, peppermint extract, and espresso powder, then pulse until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Scoop the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared pan. Transfer the sheet to the freezer for at least 1 hour (or up to 24 hours, covered).
  5. In a medium-sized microwave-safe bowl, combine the chopped chocolate and oil. Microwave on low-heat in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth.
  6. Dunk each truffle into the melted chocolate and use a fork to ensure it’s evenly coated. Allow excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
  7. Place the coated truffles back on the prepared baking sheet and sprinkle immediately with crushed candy canes.
  8. Refrigerate until set before serving. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • For a milder peppermint flavor, reduce the amount of peppermint extract.
  • Make sure to keep an eye on the chocolate while melting to prevent burning.
  • These truffles can be made ahead of time and stored for quick treats!
