Description

A delicious slow-cooked ham glazed with a sweet and flavorful brown sugar mixture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5–6 pounds Fully cooked, bone-in spiral-sliced ham
  • 1 cup Packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Honey
  • 1/2 cup Pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup Pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup Cold water
  • 1 tablespoon Freshly chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by utilizing a 7- to 8-quart oval slow cooker, lightly greased with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Open the fully cooked ham and discard any glaze packet. Place the ham, cut side down, in the crockpot.
  3. In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar, honey, pineapple juice, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, melted butter, apple cider vinegar, and spices. Warm over medium-low heat until smooth.
  4. Pour about two-thirds of the warm glaze over the ham and brush some between the spiral slices.
  5. Cover and set the crockpot to LOW for approximately 3–4 hours.
  6. In the final hour, spoon the warm cooking juices over the ham.
  7. Transfer 1 cup of cooking juices to a small saucepan, add reserved glaze, and bring to a simmer. Combine cornstarch with cold water and whisk until smooth, then stir into the simmering glaze until thickened.
  8. Generously spoon the thickened glaze over the ham, and broil for 2–4 minutes if desired.
  9. Serve warm, spooning any remaining glaze over the top.
  10. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Choose a high-quality ham for maximum flavor and juiciness.
  • Add more spices according to your preference.
