Description
A delightful appetizer featuring Lil Smokies sausages coated in a sweet and spicy pineapple jalapeño glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound (450g) Lil Smokies Sausages
- ½ cup (120ml) pineapple preserves
- 1 medium fresh jalapeño, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)
- 2 tablespoons (25g) brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons (28g) butter, melted
- Optional garnish: chopped fresh cilantro or green onions
Instructions
- Measure out all your ingredients.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the lil smokies. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned and sizzling.
- In a mixing bowl, combine pineapple preserves, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, minced garlic, and chopped jalapeño. Stir until well mixed. Add a splash of water if glaze is too thick.
- Melt the butter and stir it into the glaze to create a smooth, glossy sauce.
- Pour the glaze over the cooked lil smokies in the skillet. Stir gently to coat all sausages.
- Turn heat to low and simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the glaze thickens and caramelizes slightly. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or spiciness by adding more brown sugar or hot sauce if desired.
- Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with chopped cilantro or green onions if using. Serve warm with toothpicks.
Notes
- For a spicier dish, leave some jalapeño seeds in.
- These can be made in advance and reheated before serving.
- Pair with your favorite dipping sauce for added flavor.
