Description

A delightful appetizer featuring Lil Smokies sausages coated in a sweet and spicy pineapple jalapeño glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) Lil Smokies Sausages
  • ½ cup (120ml) pineapple preserves
  • 1 medium fresh jalapeño, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 2 tablespoons (25g) brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons (28g) butter, melted
  • Optional garnish: chopped fresh cilantro or green onions

Instructions

  1. Measure out all your ingredients.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the lil smokies. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned and sizzling.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine pineapple preserves, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, minced garlic, and chopped jalapeño. Stir until well mixed. Add a splash of water if glaze is too thick.
  4. Melt the butter and stir it into the glaze to create a smooth, glossy sauce.
  5. Pour the glaze over the cooked lil smokies in the skillet. Stir gently to coat all sausages.
  6. Turn heat to low and simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the glaze thickens and caramelizes slightly. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
  7. Taste and adjust sweetness or spiciness by adding more brown sugar or hot sauce if desired.
  8. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with chopped cilantro or green onions if using. Serve warm with toothpicks.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, leave some jalapeño seeds in.
  • These can be made in advance and reheated before serving.
  • Pair with your favorite dipping sauce for added flavor.
